The post D-life

It's been almost 5 years since my divorce. The journey of healing has been slow and filled with plenty of set backs. Here in my corner of the internet, I can only express my feelings, views and the humor I come across on dating apps. My goals for the New Year consist personal and educational progress. The overwhelming amount of guilt that has plagued me and stunted my personal growth is still there however, I am actively managing it much better these days. Cheers to me!

Upcycle THIS and THAT

Here we go...what do YOU do all day? let me show you. I re use all broken jewelry and make it pretty. This is why nap time for the baby is also therapy for me. Keep in mind Nothing goes to waste!
Then....Reuse all the metal findings
continue..by building up the piece
The Brass chain was not working for me so I added the resin black beads and spiral pendants
and there you have it. Junk jewelry no more...

Finally got around to making something for Tori. This is my version of a "hand me down". There is only so much you can do with kid's clothes that were well played in. The sequenced star was repurposed from an old t-shirt that the girls trashed BUT the star was worth saving. Tori loved it too.

Make them eat FLAN!

I was a bit surprised that most of my co-workers did not know what "flan" was. I tried to not judge but seriously, I was sad!. So I deceided to make some and knock their socks off!. Well, It worked!. I was very happy to see that they almost licked the bowl clean.  It made my day.

I found this great site for all sort of recipes. I really like their version of this Flan!.... Worth a try!

Family Recipe:
Flan de Queso - Cream Cheese Flan

How to make the Caramel.
what you need: 1 cup of sugar and 2 tbs of water.

In a in a pot cook your ingredients over med-hig heat. Make sure to keep stirring! Cook the sugar until a gold color and your sugar has become syrup. BE CAREFUL IT's VERY HOT...

carefully pour your caramel until the dish or pans of your choice. These are going to be holding your flan mix that will cook in the oven.

6-8 eggs room temp
1 12-oz can evaporated milk
1 14-oz can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup sugar
1 8-oz package cream cheese, softened to room temp

Preheat oven to 350°. Prepare "baño de María" In a mixer, mix cream cheese, made sure it's smooth. Next add eggs to the mix. (do not over beat)Add a dash of Vanilla extract and the rest of the ingredients (can of condense milk, eva milk and sugar). Mix well. Make sure the caramelized mold, is cool otherwise you will cook your eggs :) Cover with foil. Bake for 350 for 1.5 hours or until and knife comes clean.

MORE Soap Please !

I loath only one thing in this world ....Laundry!  I hate it more than people that don't use their blinkers when then turn! I hate it more than the person that pulls up to the gas station to fill up and does not PULL FORWARD.  I even hate it more than waking up in the morning with a zit on my face that looks like something out of a medical book...

So, After 9 loads of madness, I started to think about how bratty I really am.

Growing up I was not as lucky as I am today. When I was a kid new to the U.S. we lived in a one bedroom apartment. We saved every quarter we could get our hands on and then go down to the laundry mat and wash our clothes. Growing up I did not know any better and I seriously thought that having a washer and dryer was something that came with houses (like a backyard or a driveway).  No joke. I was only 8 yrs old and Laundry Mats were the norm. To this day, every time I smell Downy Fabric Softener it takes me back to life on Flager Street and the apts.

Forward to today, I stood looking at all our clothes that we are blessed to wear on our backs and I need to see the good that was looking a back at me. Every shirt, pant, sock, and blanket was a vivid reminder that I live in a warm home and sleep in clean blankets that keep me warm.  Every person in this family has plenty of clothes to keep them dry. So bring on the soap and dryer sheets, this girl has laundry to do.

Sep 22, 2011

Oh look-ie here! another mom starting a blog! SHOCKING!

Why I wanted to do this... The simple answer is that I am starting to see the good in all this. Whatever "this" might be for you or me... Here has to be some good. I have always known in my heart, now I need to see it with my eyes!. It's the little things we miss out on. I was looking at some picture of the kids and all I wanted to do is crop and edit it. Why?.. because I could see in the picture a messy house and a wall behind them all marked up with permanent maker!. BUT a second glance at this picture showed me that this is the time for my kiddos to be kids!. One day will miss and treasure the wonderful memories of all the chaos. ( or least I am told)....
So, welcome!. Keep up! Stay in touch...
It's what I always say:
"my house may look like a pair of clean sweats ,but it's what fits and there's still more room to grow" ;)
